I am better at running than blogging (just)…

Sorry, sorry – I know I’ve been very quiet for a few weeks. I’ve got no excuse – yes it’s been quite busy, but really it’s mainly laziness. New Year’s resolution number one will be to be a better blogger. Note how I’m not putting any numbers on this though – let’s be realistic 😉

Anyway, let’s have a bit of a running update. I am now at the end of week three and I’m sorry to say that my following the training plan has been a bit up and down. As you’ll remember, the plan has four runs each week and this was the first week that I managed all four, which is a little disappointing – though I’ve not missed any of the long runs in the plan, so that’s something at least. While missing runs is perhaps a tiny bit less important in these early weeks with the shorter distances (perhaps), I really wanted to get the four run habit ingrained by the time the mileage increases. Hmmm. Well, there is still time before the weekly totals get too scary. New Year’s resolution number two will be to be a better runner!

This week was what the Hal Higdon plan refers to as a step-back week. Every third week, the long run distance drops slightly to give the body a bit of a rest. It feels a bit strange to step-back so early into the plan, but apparently it works and I expect I’ll appreciate it in a few week’s time! The long run this week was an extremely manageable 5 miles, with a total weekly mileage of 15 miles – it feels very good to have got the full week under my belt for the first time, even if it was a step-back week.

So. How to kick start these resolutions and make sure I don’t slip again? Well, there can be only one solution – it’s Janathon time!

I did this last year and it was a lot of fun – hard work of course, but a really great way to start the year. If you haven’t heard about it already, the aim of Janathon is to run, or do some form of exercise, every day in January and to blog or tweet about it within 24 hours. So this will get me well on track with the running and back to blogging regularly. Huzzah!

That will all start on Thursday, but of course the training plan is still well and truly underway so there will be activity, even if I don’t start the daily blogging until then. This week feels like it’s starting to get serious, with the long run up to 9 miles. Eeeck! You’ll hear all about it on Saturday…

See you on 1 January! 😀

I was on a journey to my first half marathon and I did that June 7, 2015! Now I just want to try and stay motivated and even after 15+ years of struggling with eating healthy, stay on track with that. I want to keep doing it by inspiring others and encouraging people to live their happiest, healthiest life.
